Bailey & Matt
Bailey & Matthew: Love in Motion — A breathtaking wedding at Agaves Acre, San José del Cabo.

Bailey and Matthew got married at Acre, in among the agaves, and by the time the wedding came around we already knew each other — I had photographed their love session months before, and something clicked on that shoot that never went away.

How we got here

I had already photographed Bailey and Matthew once, months before the wedding, for their love session. Something clicked on that shoot and it never went away. So by the time the day came around we were not strangers working out how to be around each other — we already knew.

Bailey by the window in her wedding dress, light coming through the curtain

The colour

Everything at Acre grows. The ceremony was set among the agaves with peach roses, lilac lisianthus and that particular blue delphinium, and the desert held all of it without arguing. Their guests came dressed in coral and sage and fuchsia, and by the time everyone sat down the whole place was one palette.

What made the day

What I liked most about Bailey and Matthew is that they were open. Open to being creative, open to being sensual with each other, open to whatever happened without anyone planning it. That is the rarest thing a couple can hand a photographer, and they handed it over all day.

Nobody asked me what the next picture was. We kept going and the day kept giving.

The people

They were surrounded by the ones who actually matter to them — close family, a lot of friends, all of them in it. A lot of colour, a lot of love, and very little standing still.

What I took with me

From getting ready to the last hour of the party, we had fun. You can see it in the frames where nobody is holding still: the veil in the air, someone crossing in front of the lens, the light dragging across the dance floor. That is not an accident. That is what the day felt like.
